Regional Mental Health Consultant
This position will serve as a resource for all schools served by the Region 14 Education Service Center regarding child/adolescent mental health and substance use. This position is responsible for increasing awareness of mental health and co-occurring disorders, assisting personnel in implementing initiatives related to MH and co-occurring disorders, providing information on best practice-based programs and research based practices, and other public and private mental health and substance use programs. This position will also facilitate trainings including but not limited to Mental Health First Aid, the impact of grief and trauma including special considerations for supporting children with intellectual or developmental disabilities. This position will also facilitate trainings on prevention and intervention programs proven effective in helping students cope with the pressures to abuse substances.
This position reports to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program Administrator. It requires the ability to work well with a team of staff, however much of the work is completed independently and with significant latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position will office at Region 14 Education Service Center.
Requires a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related Human service field from an accredited College or University (PREFER DEGREE IN SOCIAL WORK). Must be a currently licensed clinical social worker, licensed professional counselor, or licensed marriage and family therapist. Experience working in a school setting is strongly preferred. Must have engaging speaking skills and ability to develop and maintain strong community relationships. Must possess a valid Texas Drivers license and be an insurable driver.
